Dear Saloners,  (if there is such a word)

As you probably  know, the Conversational Salons have continued each 
week for five and one-half years. (give or take a few weeks in the 
summer.)   I never knew they would be so successful, but it has been a 
wonderful experience for me and a great opportunity for people to come 
and listen and share their ideas, and join in a community.    About 
once a month, we watch films -- videos or DVD's on a small screen TV 
that someone brings from his home. These are always peace and justice 
films. (I have a list a mile long that we have seen.)  For quite some 
time we have discussed buying a film projector in order to watch them 
on a large screen.   These projectors are quite expensive.  I wrote a 
grant proposal recently to try and get money for one, but wasn't 
successful.   So, I am writing to ask if you have any ideas about 
projectors--good deals on one, a good brand, etc.   We also thought 
that people might want to help buy one for the salon, and a couple 
people have already given some money to help with this.  If you would 
like to help with this project and think you could contribute $100.00 
or less, we could have the projector "community owned" and you could 
borrow it for your own use.
