What: Twin Cities World Fair Trade Day Celebration When: Saturday, May 14 · 12:00pm - 4:00pm Where: Regla De Oro Gallery - Art and Fair Trade Gifts, 3007 Lyndale Avenue S, Minneapolis, MN More Info: Join us and thousands of global producers, consumers, policy-makers and volunteers in celebrating World Fair Trade Day 2011. Learn about fair trade and trade justice issues while sampling and purchasing fair trade products available from local businesses. Twenty percent of sales during the event will be donated to the Minnesota Fair Trade Coalition, a Twin Cities-based nonprofit that advocates for improved U.S. trade policies that will support our communities, value working families and ensure a healthy environment in Minnesota and the world over. World Fair Trade Day is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of May. The event will be free and open to the public from 12pm – 4pm on May 14, 2011. The celebration will include an exhibit by artist-activist Ricardo Levins Morales and a performance by Nicaraguan musician Carlos Lumbi from 1pm – 3pm. Food samples will be provided by Peace Coffee and Common Roots Cafe. Fair trade art, gifts, jewelry, and apparel from around the world will also be available for purchase. Event sponsor/participants are: Regla De Oro Gallery, Minnesota Fair Trade Coalition, Peace Coffee, Common Roots Cafe, Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, Domestic Fair Trade Association, Centro Campesino, North Country Fair Trade, Trade Winds, Amias Project and SUTRA global by design.
