BUS TRIP HEADS UP:  Every year, the Vets for Peace takes a bus trip to a
Georgia vigil to close the School of the Americas, a torture-training
facility operated by the US military.  It is the singingest and most
spiritual of protest actions I know.  The bus leaves the morning of 11/16,
returning the evening of 11/19, with a night at a motel there.  Cost is $200
for the bus, plus motel ($25 and up) and food.  They are down to the last

10/5 to 10/11, film "In the Valley of Elah" about soldier on 1st weekend
back after Iraq who goes missing and is reported AWOL (Gone from the Lagoon,
but check the paper for mainstream locations).  (Brief review: a tense and
nuanced film that contrasts the wrenching changes that war makes on warriors
and those around them.  Grizzly at times, but highly recommended.)
