HI, Last week we showed the film, Waiting for Superman. It was critically reviewed after it was shown around the country, and another film was made to see another side to the problems in our public education system. That film is "The Inconvenient Truth Behind Waiting for Superman." This will be shown at the salon this Tuesday, May 22. Hope you come and help discuss the 2 films----especially, if you happen to be a teacher. Next week, May 29, is Little Book of the Odd Month Club and the book to be read and discussed is The Devil's HIghway, by Luis Alberto Urrea. From the Atlantic Monthly, this quote: "The single most compelling, lucid and lyrical contemporary account of the absurdity of U.S. border policy----Urrea cuts through the prevailing mythologies surrounding the border and reveals, unsentimentally but with compassion, how a simple political boundary manages to scramble the basic humanity of all whose lives it divides and defines." Thank you, patty
