HI, This Tuesday, February 17, we will show one part of the film Terrorization of Dissent. This is the documentary film of what took place in our Twin Cities during the Republican National Convention last September. While the Republicans were inside the Xcel center hooping it up with Sarah Palin, the streets were something different. As one delegate said on TV, "We really don't care about what is happening on the outside, we are inside and just having a good time." A timely metaphor if i must say so. Come and see what your taxes paid for during these harsh days. The second part will be next week. We hope to start right at 6:30, end the film at 8 and leave time for talk.

Thanks,
patty

ps. The movie of the month will be Saturday, Feb. 21, and will be "Songcatcher," the story of musicologist, Lily Penleric (played by Janet McTeer), who, in the early part of the 20th Century goes to the beautifully rugged mountains of Appalachia and discovers a wellspring of songs passed down from the Irish and Scottish immigrants. She is determined to document the history of these songs and is forever changed by her experiences. (Aiden Quinn also stars.) Starting time: 6:30. And, hopefully we can hear some of these Appalachian songs played in person by Jewel Mayer and Chad Guerrero.
