2. Iraq: Back in the eye of the storm, a presentation by Sami Rasouli
Tuesday, April 7th, 7pm.  St. Joan of Arc Hospitality Hall, 4537 3rd Ave.
S., Minneapolis
Sami Rasouli is an Iraqi-American who lived in Minnesota for many years
before returning to Iraq after the 2003 U.S. invasion. Sami works in Iraq
with the Muslim Peacemakers Team (MPT), a group dedicated to the principles
of nonviolence. He returns to the U.S. several times each year to help
build people-to-people bridges. Sami will share his experiences in Iraq,
his insights into the current turmoil there and its underlying causes, the
role of the U.S. in Iraq and the Middle East, and the aspirations, hopes
and dreams of ordinary Iraqi people. Sponsored by End War Committee of

7. My Lai Massacre: A Half-Told Story

Sunday, April 26, Noon to 2:00pm.  WAMM, 4200 Cedar Av S, Mpls. Dong Nguyen
is a Humphrey Fellow at U of M Law School and founder and Vice-Chair of the
non-governmental organization, Charity Fund for the Elderly in Hanoi,
Vietnam.

The My Lai Massacre is the most shocking war-crime episode of the Vietnam
War.   It showed the ruthlessness and brutality of American soldiers at the
time, acting on incorrect information and displaying the low morale.  The
presentation will also point out why the case was hidden for a year, the
reactions from media and public outreach before and after the disclosure,
the real stories of the U.S soldiers who were charged with criminal

9. Tackling Torture at the Top Video Contest

WAMM’s Tackling Torture at the Top (T3) committee announces a video contest
on the subject of torture and torture accountability. The jury consists of
international experts on film and on the torture issue, including Prof.
Peter Kuznick, American University, co-writer of the 10 part TV series “The
Untold History of the United States” (2012), Sebastian Doggart, director of
the critically acclaimed documentary “American Faust: From Condi to
Neo-Condi” (2009), longtime peace activist, Andy Worthington, and Joseph
Jolton, Minneapolis filmmaker and instructor video arts at Minneapolis
College of Art and Design and the Blake School. Winners will be feted at
Twin Cities events on June 26th, the UN-designated Torture Awareness Day.

for rally at 5:00.  The march will send that message of solidarity with all
workers, the right to a union, and opposition to anti-union laws being

forced through in Wisconsin. The march will also stand for equal rights for
