Subject: A de Mello 2.15 6:30pm

This Tues, the 15th is the following, led by Carole Julian:

Carole Julian will read from the works of Anthony deMello, a Jesuit whose
works were censured by the Church 8 years after his death in l987.

This is an evening of shared reading and open conversation on deMello's
writings which range from short poems, spiritual parables and social
commentary. DeMello's spirituality bridges the gap between daily life and
matters of faith in subtle and sometimes shocking ways that can awaken us
to our own life.

Dear Peacemakers, I am writing to invite you to an Emergency Briefing:
THE ARAB REVOLUTION UNFOLDS: IS IRAQ NEXT?

Wednesday, February 16, 7:30 pm
Mayday Books
301 Cedar Ave. South
On The West Bank In Minneapolis

SPEAKER: SAMI RASOULI
Iraqi-American peace activist and founder of the Muslim Peacemaker Teams
(Najaf, Iraq), Sami will be returning to Iraq next week after spending
time in Minnesota. He is helping to organize future protests in Iraq
through participation in Facebook groups.

Demonstrations were held in Baghdad on February 14 to protest Iraqi
government corruption and the lack of jobs and social services.

These protests are part of the political and social revolution sweeping
the Arab states and the world.

Iraqis report that U.S. forces joined Iraqi police and military units in
harassing the February 14 protests. More demonstrations are being planned
in Iraq in the days and weeks ahead.

Come to a briefing on the developing situation in Iraq. Sami will address
some of the following questions:

After the revolutionary events in Tunisia and Egypt, is Iraq next?
What are conditions in Iraq today?
How are events in Tunisia and Egypt impacting the people of Iraq?
What is the role of young people organizing in Iraq today?
What is the role of the U.S. in Iraq today?

This event is sponsored by: Mayday Books, Twin Cities Peace Campaign and
Anti-War Committee. Mayday Bookstore is located in the basement of the
Hub. Enter on the side of building. There is a public parking ramp behind
the building. For more information, call 612-333-4719 or visit
