Peace Calendar for January 14, 2007

now to 1/18, film "Babel" about random gun accident in Morocco which causes
havoc with a US couple, a deaf Japanese teen and a Mexican nanny with two US
children, none of whom can communicate with each other, Lagoon Theater, 1320
Lagoon Ave, Mpls. www.landmarktheaters.com (A loyal reader wrote to
complain that she saw this film on my recommendation here, yet the film not
only glorified violence but portrayed violence as inevitable. Following her
reaction, I am officially un-recommending this film and warning readers that
I have not seen most of the films I list, nor do I necessarily agree with
the organizers' viewpoints for any of the events listed here. Peace may be
achieved by some path I would not personally take, so I advertise an
intentionally wide variety of events.)
