relationship--is a witness to authenticity. Elizabeth Jarrett Andrew,
spiritual director and author of "Swinging on the Garden Gate", will explore
how coming out is an integral spiritual growth for all people regardless of
sexual identity.

discuss two short videos from PBS NOW with David Brancaccio: "Voter Caging"
on voter disenfranchisement and "Block the Vote" on voter ID bills, and the
disproportionate impact on people of color.  This event complies with the

coffee is the most actively traded commodity in the world with $80 billion
dollars in retail sales. But farmers make as little as three cents for every
cup of coffee sold in the U.S. or Europe. Most of the rest of the money goes
to the middlemen, especially the four giant food conglomerates which control
the coffee market. 

Black Gold asks us "to wake up and smell the coffee," to face the unjust
conditions under which our favorite drink is produced and to decide what we
can do about it. Reviewers say that it is "riveting" and "transcends.the dry
presentation qualities" of other documentaries.

FREE. DRAMATIC READING: THE CASE FOR WAR-WAS IT FRAUDULENT? United States v.
George W. Bush et al. 

Six readers will present the evidence for an indictment of top government
officials claiming they tricked the nation into the Iraq war, or, in legal
terms, conspired to defraud the United States. The facts and circumstances
are real. They are the result of two years researching the run-up to the war
by a former federal prosecuting attorney with 20 years of experience and
passion for justice, Elizabeth de la Vega. The script is adapted from her
book, United States v. George W. Bush et al. The jury, randomly picked from
the audience, decides whether there is enough evidence to indict.

"HUMILITY TO SPEAK: RECLAIMING OUR PROPHETIC VOICE FOR RACIAL JUSTICE"

Kelli Clement: The liberally religious take justifiable pride on our support
of civil rights for all.  How can a spiritual practice of humility help us
in the healing work of reparative peace and justice?

Kelli Clement is a seminarian at United Theological Seminary on the path to
UU parish ministry.  She is a facilitator in training for ASDIC - Antiracism
Study Dialogue Circles, and is the co-chair of Seminarians for Choice at
UTS.  Kelli is a trustee and frequent worship leader at First Universalist
Church, Minneapolis.

C. NATIONAL UU ADVOCACY

The October 15 issue of Time, published on October 5, carries a full page ad
for Unitarian Universalism.  This ad, with the message "Is God Keeping You
>From Going to Church?", represents the first of four appearances Unitarian
Universalists will have in Time between now and the end of 2007.  All ads
carry the slogan, "Nurture Your Spirit.  Help Heal Our World."  
 
With the launch of this campaign you will find updated information on
UUA.org  (the index page carries a link to the campaign).  There you'll find
a graphic of the October 15 Time cover and of the ad itself as well as links
to much more information including samples of the Time ads available for
congregational use and hospitality and welcoming resources).  The UUA will
also publish an "advertorial" in the November
5 (cover date) issue which will be available on news stands on October 26;
with that ad, the new UUA/Time co-sponsored TIME.com religion pages will
also go live.  More information about the campaign will be sent in coming
weeks.

are also posted on YouTube):  a ten-minute welcoming video, "Voices of a
Liberal Faith - Unitarian Universalists" (available for
