RESISTING THE NRC
NOTE LOCATION CHANGE!!!!!

SAT, JUNE 9
2PM TO 5PM
U of M - St. Paul Student Center
2017 Buford Ave, St. Paul, MN directions and parking:
http://www.spsc.umn.edu/about/directions.php

The Republican National Convention (RNC) is coming to our backyard. Feeling
angry? Want to do something? You and your organization are invited to join
us for a gathering of those who have already started organizing to resist
the RNC in 2008 and those looking for a place to start. This will be a
space for people to come together and share ideas and energy.

The afternoon will be broken into 3 parts. We'll start with a
"clearinghouse" where organizations can table and have an opportunity to
chat with attendees one-on-one. This will be followed by a facilitated
"open mic" discussion period. Discussion will start with explanations about
what is already underway, and continue with attendees sharing their hopes,
dreams, and visions with each other. The day will conclude with "break out"
sessions where participants gather around specific topics of interest and
decide on "next steps." Let's meet each other, get to know each other, and
start to work together! Child Care and Snacks Provided. Co-hosted by:
Protest RNC 2008 and the RNC "Welcoming" Committee.

To increase your participation level please contact Karen R at:
vegan14ever [at] riseup.net. Increased participation could include: having an
information table, presenting your "already underway" plans, and/or
volunteering to help with the event.

TOO SOON

Another grim milestone is all-too-quickly approaching ... the 3500th U.S.
military death in Iraq. After the 3500th U.S. military death is reported, an
emergency vigil & protest will be held in Minneapolis. Details will be
circulated when news reports confirm the 3500th U.S. military death in Iraq.
The vigil will not only mark the 3500th U.S. military death in Iraq, but
also the massive toll of Iraqi people who have died as a result of the war.

Please be prepared to participate and to get your family, friends,
co-workers and others to come out on short notice. The event is being
organized around the call of:

3500 Deaths Too Many -
Not One More Death - Not One More Dollar
Iraqis and GI's Are Dying:
Out of Iraq - End the War Now!

The call for this emergency protest & vigil has been initiated by the Iraq
Peace Action Coalition.
For information or to confirm when and where the event will be held, call
612 522-1861 or 612 827-5364. Details will also be sent out by many
organizations on their e-mail lists.

SUNDAY, JUNE 24TH
11:00 AM
HENNEPIN AVENUE AT THIRD STREET TO LORING PARK

THE TWIN CITIES 35TH ANNIVERSARY PRIDE PARADE IS SUNDAY, JUNE 24TH! "The
Evolution of Equality" is the 2007 Pride theme and represents how society's
definition of equality has changed over the years. In 1969, GLBT people
were fighting simply for the right to exist, socialize and to not be
harassed by the authorities. Today we are working towards a future of true
equality for the GLBT community. The parade site will take place along
Minneapolis' Hennepin Avenue from Third Street to Loring Park, site of the
Twin Cities GLBT Pride Festival. The parade will kick-off promptly at 11:00
a.m. If you would like to march with other UU's, please contact Doug
Federhart at White Bear Unitarian Universalist Church at (651) 426-2369 to
register with the group.
