Community Events **** A. UPCOMING UU EVENTS 1. SUNDAY, MAY 22 11:00 AM PHIL STEGER: THE HEART'S LONG MARCH: NONVIOLENCE, DEMOCRACY AND PEACEMAKING IN AMERICA. Phil, director of Friends for a Non-Violent World, will discuss the role of nonviolence in the birth of our nation's democracy and highlight how Americans have used nonviolence over the centuries to expand the reach of our democratic rights to include the formerly oppressed. He will give suggestions for how ordinary people can draw from these traditions and apply their lessons to our country's current crisis of violence and democracy in Iraq.
