Ilan Pappe is a major, revisionist Israeli historian who published the results of his groundbreaking research on the war of 1948 in The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine (2006). After receiving numerous death threats in Israel while teaching at Haifa University, Pappe was hired by the history department at the University of Exeter in England, and moved there in 2007 with his family.
