Gadfly Theatre Productions Presents

Girl Gumshoe and Detective Dad

September 26th, 2014 (Minneapolis/St. Paul) -- A noir parody about growing
up and moving forward by local playwright Eli Effinger-Weintraub. Gina
views moving day as a flag on the shores of maturity and independence. Too
bad her father, Troy, makes immaturity and dependence so exciting. While
Gina's mother Irene and girlfriend Sarita do the bulk of the work, Troy and
Gina indulge in one last round of Girl Gumshoe and Detective Dad, a game
from Gina's childhood. But when Detective Dad thinks he's uncovered a
murder, the game takes a turn that threatens relationships, living
arrangements, and sanity and forces Gina to choose between security and
adventure, past and future. Girl Gumshoe and Detective Dad is a comedy that
proves it's never too late to grow up--or to avoid growing up at all
costs. Girl
Gumshoe will be produced at the People’s Center Theatre on the West Bank of
Minneapolis, and runs October 17th-26th.

As a queer and feminist play production company, Gadfly unanimously
selected this play after seeing a read-through produced by Little Lifeboats
last year. Girl Gumshoe as both a character and play speak to milestones in
everyone’s lives, yet are unfortunately underrepresented for LGBTQIA*
persons in entertainment. This phenomenal cast sees returning Gadfly actors
G Zachariah White and Lauren Diesch in the title roles. Twin Cities local
favorites Kathryn Fumie and Fawn Wilderson-Legros, and returning to the
stage, Kate Bailey, round out this cast of hilarious and heartbreaking
characters.

Tickets to Girl Gumshoe and Detective Dad are sliding scale between $12 and
$25 for a regular show, and features three Pay-What-You-Can performances
where advance purchase through Brown Paper Tickets will be possible. Please
e-mail gadflytheatre [at] gmail.com for more ticket information.
