Stillwater vigil 5.29 1pm --------1 of 7-------- From: Women Against Military Madness <wamm [at] mtn.org> Subject: Scold AG Holder 5.27 8:30am/10:30am/2pm U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder Appearances in Minneapolis Friday, May 27, 8:30 a.m. (Leafleting and Picket); 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. (Rally) University of Minnesota, McNamara Alumni Center, 200 Oak Street Southeast, Minneapolis. This is a critical opportunity for all supporters of civil liberties and the anti-war movement to come out to demand an end to FBI and grand jury repression of local activists! Attorney General Holder can call this off and he's coming to us. He will be speaking at a conference and receiving an award. Help us take this opportunity to publicize his record. Sponsored by: the Committee to Stop FBI Repression (CSFR). FFI: http://mnstopfbi.wordpress.com/. Friday, May 27, 2:00 p.m. (Town Hall Meeting) Augsburg College, Music Hall, Sateren Auditorium, 2211 Riverside Avenue South, Minneapolis. Some questions to ask Eric Holder follow. Please check for updates and changes: www.augsburg.edu. RSVP: usamn.crd [at] usdoj.gov. **** How and Why Did Eric Holder Tip Justice Upside-Down? Can his prosecutorial priorities be turned back around? Questions that should be asked: Since when are torture, warrantless monitoring, indefinite detention and targeted assassinations legal? Why does Holder's DOJ repeatedly file motions claiming "state secrecy" prevents any hearing, even for well-established cases of US torture? Why did Holder's DOJ overrule its own Office of Professional Responsibility who decided ethics action should be taken against lawyers who wrote memos that provided cover for torturers? How did the Attorney General come to change his mind after publicly advocating for due process and rule of law before he became AG? Why does Holder prosecute government whistleblowers instead of protecting them, as Obama pledged before he was elected? Why does he go after government whistleblowers instead of those committing government fraud and abuse? Is Holder willing to stretch the law to find a way to prosecute WikiLeaks for exposing war crimes? How is it that the Department of Justice totally ignores the financial "Inside Job" of those who committed massive bank and securities fraud? Does "Too Big to Fail" mean too big to prosecute? Why does Holder's Department of Justice state that "leaking" government secrets, including about war crimes, to the American public is worse than spying for a foreign country? Why does Holder target anti-war activists and myriad other non-violent advocacy groups by allowing the FBI to infiltrate these groups without any level of suspicion? What's happened to freedom of speech and freedom of assembly? Is there any HOPE of Eric Holder turning his priorities around so he goes after the real criminals instead of citizens who merely dissent from the US Government and its corporate partners' unethical and illegal actions? Given that the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama, when it was unmerited but intended to be "aspirational", only led to his launching of more unconstitutional wars, is it a good idea to give awards for such continuing INJUSTICE? --------2 of 7-------- From: Eric Angell <eric-angell [at] riseup.net> Subject: Palestine vigil 5.27 4:15pm The weekly vigil for the liberation of Palestine continues at the intersection of Snelling and Summit Aves in St. Paul.
