Health care costs drive the budget and as a result are crowding out not only health care services, but education, transportation, environmental sustainability programs, and many other social programs. This has reached fiscal crisis proportions, so it's urgent that we meet. This is especially important as 95,000 people are being shifted into MN's Medicaid program, and step number one is to make sure these folks can stay in the public sector, and not be outsourced to expensive private HMO insurers. Open Community Meeting: Walker Church (3104 16th ave s,Mpls,55406,near Lake str & Bloomington ave), basement dining hall. 11am, saturday, Feb12. We can partake in the pancake breakfast benefit for the Women's Prison Book Project, and at 2pm at Hosmer Library (36th street between 3rd abd 4th avenues) will be a Blues/Swing music performance in the basement. --------7 of 15-------- From: PRO826 [at] aol.com Subject: EcoDem/Pentel 2.12 1pm Ecology Democracy Network Introduction and Study Circle. There is to be an Egyptian Celebration Rally at 2 pm tomorrow, Saturday, Feb 12 at the State Capitol in St. Paul. With all the ready-available snow and ice in Minnesota, we had this light bulb go off that it must be good for something!! We've done a lot with snow before and peace signs, but could we try to fashion an Egyptian Pyramid out of the snow in front of the Capitol in solidarity with the people of Egypt? We'll give it a try at about 11 am if anyone would like to help so it's done in time for the rally. Snow artists needed!
