[The best candidate ar the best bar/restaruant. -ed]

Dear friends,
I would like to invite you all to a party this Wednesday. Come celebrate
getting your taxes done - if you have. Or come drown your sorrows and
have some fun, refreshments, and good conversation with other supporters
of my City Council campaign. I'll talk some about taxes, budgets, and how
we can make it cheaper to live in Minneapolis. I want to hear your
thoughts as well.

** Wednesday, April 15, 5:30 - 7:30pm, Bicking campaign party and
fundraiser, at Merlins Rest Pub, 3601 E. Lake St., Mpls. Appetizers and
refreshments. Suggested donation: $15 - or whatever you have left
over....

One of the reasons I am running for City Council is to help save money,
and to make sure the city spends your money wisely, carefully, and on the
most important priorities. I'll talk briefly about property taxes and the
city budget. I'll also address other ways that city government impacts
your wallet. Fees and special assessments keep increasing. The city
government, if it wished, could also save us from other expenses - such as
the sales tax we currently pay to support the Twins stadium.

I'll be open to questions, and I hope you can tell me what you know that
can help us develop our campaign platform. This campaign will be a
collaborative effort - a model of how I intend to serve as a City Council
member.

If you can't make it to the party, but want to help the campaign
financially, please make out checks to Bicking for City Council. Any
amount is appreciated; the legal maximum is $300. Mail to: Bicking for
City Council, 2425 Franklin Ave. E. #407, Mpls, MN 55406. Unfortunately,
it takes a lot of money to get out the message and win the election. I
will appreciate any amount you can afford!

We have a lot of serious work to do to improve Minneapolis city
government. Please contact me if you are able and willing to volunteer
for the campaign in any capacity. I also want to make sure that this
campaign is fun for all involved.

So please come and party, and show your support!
For a more fair and compassionate city,
Dave Bicking 612-276-1213

Civil disobedience training for upcoming immigrant rights action
Wednesday, April 15 @ 7:30pm @ Bethany Lutheran Church @ 2511 East
Franklin Avenue, Minneapolis

Three CD trainings building up to an action at ICE headquarters in
Bloomington, Minnesota this spring. For 3 years now people have been
marching, petitioning, lobbying for change. We have heard hopeful words
from the Obama administration, yet as we write, more national guard are
being sent to the border, families are being torn apart, our communities
are being terrorized, and workers are sitting in detention centers, where
documented human rights abuses have occurred.

May 1st will mark the 100th day of the Obama administration. In the first
days of his administration, Obama signed an executive order to close the
prison at Guantanamo Bay. There is no reason he can't do a similar
executive order to immediately stop the wave of immigration raids and
deportations that are tearing apart families and communities around the
country. We will not wait for justice, we will not wait as mothers and
fathers are torn from their children. We will not be silent while
community members live in fear. We will not tolerate workers being
exploited.

OUR DEMAND IS SIMPLE: We demand that President Obama sign an executive
order declaring an immediate moratorium on raids and deportations until a
JUST immigration law is passed.
