ACTION ALERT DON’T LET YOUR SENATORS SABOTAGE PEACE WITH IRAN After over 30 years of increasing threats and crippling sanctions against Iran, peace is finally possible. Iran and the P5+1 countries – the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany – are [1]finalizing a peace agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, right now. Last week, 47 Senators took the [2]shocking step of sending an “open letter” to Iranian leaders aimed at blowing up the nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 countries. Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle are working to place obstacles in the way of peace. Today, two bills are pending in the Senate, clearly designed to prevent an agreement with Iran and may come up for a vote as early as next week: [3]S. 615 Corker-Graham Iran Bill - would give Congress the power to veto a nuclear agreement, and [4]S. 269 Kirk- Menendez Sanctions Bill -undermines diplomacy through new sanctions / unrealistic conditions for a final deal. Please, call your Senators TODAY and demand that they vote NO on legislation sabotaging peace with Iran (S.615 and S.269). Tell Sens. Klobuchar and Franken: DON’T BLOW THIS HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY. Will they work to support diplomacy, or will they put our nation back on the path towards a catastrophic war with Iran? Senator Amy Klobuchar: 612-727-5220 Senator Al Franken: 651-221-1016 White House switchboard: 202-224-3121 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ WAMM Peace Community Calendar WAMM EVENTS 1.
